The Real Cause of Infertility

Infertility is defined as the inability to conceive after one year of regular sexual intercourse without contraception, or as repeated ectopic pregnancies, miscarriages or perinatal loss. The causes of infertility can be attributed to male and female-specific factors, accounting for approximately 30% of cases individually. The combination of male and female factors contributes to an additional 20%, while the remaining 20% have uncertain origins.

When dealing with infertility, it is crucial to strictly follow the treatment guidelines and ensure the correct diagnosis of the root cause of the condition. Misdiagnosis can lead to further fertility complications, and the initial step of treating and curing infertility depends mainly on identifying the root cause at the beginning of treatment.

The broad causes of infertility in females include:

  • Anovulation: This is the most common cause of infertility in females. The failure to ovulate may be due to hormonal imbalances, polycystic ovarian syndrome, hypothalamus malfunctioning, damage to the ovaries, premature menopause, and follicular problems.
  • Improper functioning of fallopian tubes: Viral and bacterial infections, abdominal problems, previous surgeries, ectopic pregnancy, and congenital tubal defects are the primary causes of fallopian tube malfunction.
  • Use of drugs: Smoking, drinking, and using other drugs have been known to decrease the chances of getting pregnant.
  • Problems in the immune system: This includes autoimmune reactions, the creation of antisperm antibodies, the presence of natural killer cells in excess, and the presence of antinuclear antibodies in excess.

Although the causes of infertility are many, they can be overcome, especially when diagnosed in the early stages. Using a holistic approach, including prescribed medicines, a healthy diet, regular exercise, stress management, acupuncture, and abstinence from alcohol, nicotine, and other drugs, guarantees positive results. A holistic approach that addresses all the root causes of this condition, rather than focusing on specific triggering elements, is the only way to solve infertility permanently due to its complex and multifactorial nature.
